North American Association for the Study of Religion

Apart from eligibility to participate in NAASR and serve on its committees, and thus participate in IAHR events and serve on IAHR committees, NAASR membership includes the following benefits:

1. NAASR members automatically receive a subscription to the quarterly Bulletin of the Council of Societies for the Study of Religion and a subscription to the quarterly Religious Studies Review (both of which are published by the Council of Societies for the Study of Religion, of which NAASR is a Constituent Society)

2. Brill offers a reduced cost for the NAASR's official journal, Method & Theory in the Study of Religion (this 33% discount that is also be available to all IAHR members throughout the world). MTSR subscription is not included in your NAASR membership so as to keep the cost of NAASR dues as low as possible; NAASR members are therefore encouraged to subscribe voluntarily to MTSR. NAASR members are also encouraged to consider requesting their schools' libraries to subscribe at the institutional rate.

3. As a member of NAASR, members are automatically a member of the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR), and eligible to subscribe to the IAHR's quarterly periodical, Numen, at half-price

4. NAASR members are eligible to request that NAASR provide sponsorship for regional conferences that they are organizing as well as being eligible to propose/participate in ongoing scholarly working groups that meet during NAASR annual meetings; interested members should send a one page proposal detailing the event (as a Word or Word Perfect file attachment) to the Executive Secretary/Treasurer at robertyelle@hotmail.com, who will then notify the Executive Council of the request and communicate the decision to the member
